Catching up on upcoming patch 4.1

Postby Grimblast » Sat Apr 09, 2011 11:09 am

I managed to get some time to catch up on the upcoming patch 4.1 changes and came across something that is supposed to help us get lower queue times in the dungeon finder tool. What they are saying is they will dish out extra loot/incentives to classes that are under represented in the queue. Which we all know will most likely be tanks and healers. I do see some problems with his but it may work out to reduce the queue times. The following Daily Blink comic is what came to mind though.

It helps illustrate the problem I see with this. I've healed enough bad tanks(or tanked for bad healers) to know it will just simply make things worse but who knows, I might be impressed. Time will tell.

I tanked on my druid for the first time in 3-4 months today. It lasted 4 pulls before I dropped, as we couldn't vote kick the healer... and he was only casting his long, normal heal.

I foresee this happening somewhat more often.
Letting the demon do the work for me since 2004.
I play to some degree: WoW (EU now, US before), Guild Wars 2 (EU), SWTOR.

These heroics have got to be a headache for tanks and healers as well.

With the massive amounts of dps being produced, the tanks have to be ripping their hair out with holding aggro and the healer keeping everyone alive.

I know tanks are dishing out alot of damage now, but holding that aggro on multiple mobs have to be a challenge for them.

I'm not the least bit surprised with tanks and healers get booted or leave groups. It's important for everyone to focus on the tanks target and not wonder off on some other mob. Gnomie does that on occasion because the tank constantly clicks thru mobs for aggro purposes and unless he/she has symbols laid out, it's pretty much a guessing game. Especially when the pug tank doesn't tell anyone what they're doing before the pull.

This is true. We are given the tools in game and it still seems like people are trying to pug it like its a WOTLK random instance. I played with a very well geared tank the other night and they didn't issue targets or CC marks. They would just charge on in thinking they out geared the content. That's nice if the whole party has. :-\
