One thing I hate about the NYT is the registration requirement. They can kiss my posterior.

I originally read this on Slashdot about a week ago. Here's a freely accessible copy of the same article--no registration needed. (I'm not sure if this is the exact article; they cite the NYT.)

Now, I think the concept is rather interesting. I thought it began as something of a joke when I read about it, but in the days since the article was released I have heard that it is a theory gaining traction. Maybe it exists to physicists as something akin to an Internet meme. Regardless, whether they consider it a joke or not, I suppose time will tell. If the LHC reaches full power, we'll likely have our answer.

Thanks for the link to Slashdot. Is this the same website you originally got the pictures of the Hubble Telescope? Seems they have the information available a lot sooner than the sites I visit.

You know the article states that back in the day Niels Bohr was looked at by his collegues as being somewhat out there. Interesting enough, with his insight he was able to shatter Newtonion Physics and prove that Quantum Physics are indeed a reality. I truly believe that Scientists need to have a great imagination as well as logic in order to reach beyond what we might consider compfortable thinking. Only that way will we be able to continue to explore and discover abstract concepts and actually convert these into our every day lives.

So I am glad this theory is actualy gaining more acceptance, even though it does sounds like an episode out of Star Trek.
