Personality Test

I'm sure several of you have taken and know about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI, particularly Lith given his background). For those of you who don't, it's a characterization of human personality types that presents, on the whole, a fairly good but also very general baseline of who you are. For example, I am an INTJ with the following strength preferences for each:

INTJ
Introverted Intuitive Thinking Judging
Strength of the preferences %
89 38 75 44

By far, the best online personality type test I've found is on HumanMetrics. Use the Jung personality test:

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm

You can find out more about the individual types here and read up about the MBTI via [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MBTI
]Wikipedia[/url]. There is also a fairly recent extension of MBTI that introduces "shadow types," but I'll leave it to you to look up your own type on Wikipedia. If you've wanted to know more about yourself, this is most assuredly a great way to start. Be aware that no one else can truly tell you what your type is; if you find one that doesn't quite match, you may need to do a little additional research as it is possible to wind up with a slightly different type (due to the strengths of each of your "preferences") than what you favor most.

Interestingly, when I first took this same test around January 2004, I was also an INTJ. Generally speaking, your types don't change much.

Edit: In spirit of me getting nearly a 90 on the introverted bit, I feel compelled to give a big FUCK YOU to people in general. That is all.

That actually has to do with how you make decisions and isn't gender based. From Wikipedia:

Thinking and Feeling are the decision-making (judging) functions. The thinking and feeling functions are both used to make rational decisions, based on the data received from their information-gathering functions (sensing or intuition). Those who prefer thinking tend to decide things from a more detached standpoint, measuring the decision by what seems reasonable, logical, causal, consistent and matching a given set of rules. Those who prefer feeling tend to come to decisions by associating or empathizing with the situation, looking at it 'from the inside' and weighing the situation to achieve, on balance, the greatest harmony, consensus and fit, considering the needs of the people involved.

You should post your preference strengths so we can all compare numbers.

hahahahahahahahahahaha welcome to the club!

Wow, we've got a lot of INTJs here! We need a slogan.

"Screw people. INTJs unite!"

Edit: Interesting, I just noticed we all have the same introverted score, too. Explains a lot about how well we get along.

There was a resurgence in the MBTI as a managerial tool starting a couple of years ago (if you know your employees' traits, you can employ their skills better--or so the argument goes). That doesn't really surprise me too much. Though, what does surprise me is that they're still making use of it. I guess some PHB figures it has utility. Whether management can use it effectively is another question. ;)

You should take this one, though. I've had the opportunity to take about 4 or 5 different types, and the humanmetrics one is the best IMO. There's not as many "fuzzy" answers and it scores you.

Slight edit: I just noticed that your signature has the Umbrella Corp. logo in it.

My Type is
ESTJ
Extraverted - 33
Sensing -12
Thinking -1
Judging - 33

The ESTJ is outspoken, a person of principles, which are readily expressed. The ESTJ is not afraid to stand up for what she believes is right even in the face of overwhelming odds. ESTJs are able to make the tough calls.

Occupations attracting ESTJs include teaching, coaching, banking, political office, and management at all levels.

LoL

I have to laugh at the 1% thinking.

The thinking score you got implies that you could be an ESxJ (I doubt it; you may have gotten a bad mix of questions) and means that you can both rationalize a situation by thought as well as by empathizing with those involved. It's not what it sounds like at first. I may have quoted this above (I'm too lazy to look), so here it is again:

As noted already, people who prefer thinking do not necessarily, in the everyday sense, 'think better' than their feeling counterparts; the opposite preference is considered an equally rational way of coming to decisions (and, in any case, the MBTI assessment is a measure of preference, not ability). Similarly, those who prefer feeling do not necessarily have 'better' emotional reactions than their thinking counterparts.

Since your T preference is "weak," I believe that would imply you're able to analyze a situation detached from it as well as seeing it as if you were a part of it (in someone else's shoes as it were). In other words, your judgment functions are more balanced than the rest of us who have preferences one way or the other. It's not a bad thing to be!

Looking at the rest of the ESTJ profile is fascinating. It sounds a lot like the Alacor I know. It might be worthwhile to take the test again in the future and see if your T preference increases (I bet it will). You don't sound at all like an ESFJ. In fact, ESFJs sound completely opposite!
