Oh dang, I must've missed that. I didn't have time to read the entire thread, but the people who were talking about personal interaction with MJ was pretty worth it.
I can't remember exactly where I found the link. I think it was from Hacker News (ycombinator). They've had a lot of good things on general media there even though it's intended more for tech. startups/developers. Still, just 'cause you're a developer doesn't mean RL stuff doesn't affect you!
But, sadly, you're right. The media's more interested in covering things like scandals and funerals. Interesting news like this slips through the cracks because it doesn't generate "high enough" ratings. Or whatever.
I bet if the news actually reported INTERESTING stuff, they'd have higher ratings. I can't really believe that only bad news brings money--not with the wild followership generated on the Internet about random cutsy things. And hell, look at Ronald Jenkees... There's a market for real, wholesome stuff. Screw the media, IMO.
