Funny that they have to consolidate. That ususally means they don't have that many subscribers.

What they're finding is that most people aren't going to pay monthly fees for multiple games, particularly ones that require a huge time sink.

To this extent, Blizzard has effectively capitalized on the market *and* gained a stranglehold on it.

Last official report says WAR has 300,000 subscribers -- a drop in the pond compared to WoW, but still the largest numbers of any non-WoW MMO.
Letting the demon do the work for me since 2004.
I play to some degree: WoW (EU now, US before), Guild Wars 2 (EU), SWTOR.

On the plus side, they should be able to survive in a niche market, namely disaffected WoW players.

'Course, look what happened to Tabula Rasa.

Don't forget those who desire large-scale PvP over deep PvE. Although a lot of these are the same people.

I've had a lot of free time to read lately since I haven't gotten my overheating problem fixed yet (I average exactly 35 minutes when I play WoW, ha!), and WAR does present an interesting contrast. If I could stomach dropping $30/month on MMO's, I totally would.

By the way, I tried the Vanguard trial... wow, I was bored within 40 minutes.
