One thing that's interesting is how people will absolutely go crazy running around in fear over something they don't understand.

I was reading something earlier about how one system at the LHC was hacked into (their web services, I assume) and defaced by a Greek group. What's interesting is that they were essentially threatening CERN. Not to mention the various protesters who are afraid this is somehow going to create a miniature black hole (smaller than the bits and pieces that make up subatomic materials) that will suck us up. They seem to forget that cosmic rays have far more energy than the LHC is going to unleash and cosmic rays are always smashing into things.

I've been thinking about the phrase "take a 2x4, and fill it with hate" and the only conclusion I could come up with would be to drill out parts of the 2x4 and replace them with rebar.
