Little factoid:

Tsar Bomba (something like "King of all Bombs") had an estimated yield of 57 megatons. They were originally shooting for 100 but scaled it back from complications and technical issues (reduction in fallout). Castle Bravo by comparison, which was our largest test, was a mere 15 megatons.

Incidentally, the Tsar Bomba was in fact so powerful that it would have been likely for someone standing almost 70 miles away from the blast to receive third degree burns. Not surprisingly, it was also among the largest radiological disasters in the world.

In videos where they show the release aircraft, you'll notice that the parachute is deployed immediately upon release. They did that to provide the release aircraft with enough time to escape the blast zone. Had the bomb been of its intended 100MT design, the release plane would have most certainly been destroyed in the blast.

Took me three posts to realize he was actually talking about the state.

A Wal-Mart corporate spokesperson has reported that all of their stores across Alabama were completely sold out of ammunition as of yesterday. A reliable local source said that one of the purchasers commented that while Russia may have invaded Georgia, "They sure as hell ain't doin' that to Alabama!"

That is awesome.

Another example of why more Swedish children can locate Mexico on a map than American children.

Most US citizens think I live in Mexico, too. Evidently they can't quite fathom the idea that New Mexico is a different entity altogether (the quarters haven't helped, either).
