I've been mulling over posting this for a while but couldn't bear to do it because it's either an admission of failure, giving up, or something equally displeasing. But, here it is: I won't be coming back to GW2, at least not for a while. The mastery grind is a bit much, and I'm not interested in leveling a revenant alone (if I even wanted to sink the time into leveling--I don't have enough scrolls to boost very far and leveling with 80s doesn't seem like fun). Plus, the changes to the game are a bit hostile toward people who don't play much. That's fine, I won't dispute it (much), but it's just not for me. Some people really like it, and that's great. But it's time I admit that I'm not the target demographic, and I'm perfectly OK with that. (However, that doesn't mean I won't complain! Get off my lawn!)
I don't know when or if I'll decide to play it again, but I'm disappointed that it's become such a grind. If I wanted to do that, I'd fire up my WoW subscription and farm reputations. The intended mechanics seem similar.
Either way, I appreciate the fun we had--it was pretty good while it lasted. I know a couple of you may have had similar complaints recently, and this means I'm preaching to the choir. As such, I'm throwing in the towel with the rest of you, at least for the time being.
'Course there's always other things to try, and if Cube World comes out of beta any time soon, I'm dragging half of you with me. I'd stop writing code for at least 15 minutes to play that.
But be warned I'm getting myself a Das Keyboard (blank key caps, of course) this Christmas, and I might be inclined to spend all day typing.
