I was hoping to play tonight, but when I turned on my computer the drive that had WOW installed on it was dead. I originally bought the game and installed it fro CD, but I gave my copy to a friend so that he could try it out with the free trial coupons.

I thought you could download the game from the WOW website, but I can't find a page to do that. E-mail tech support says it'll get back to me within 2 days, but that won't help me tonight.

You guys got any suggestions.

AFAIK, only the expansion can be downloaded now. You used to be able to download the WoW client separately, but I'm pretty sure that stopped after open beta. I might be wrong.

You'll have to do a LOT of downloading (4GB+ probably), but you should be able to grab the entire pre-BC WoW client. (It's how I got my own client, in fact.)

Thanks for your answers. I guess the short answer was, you just can't do that on short notice.

I could have bought another copy from Wallyworld, but I'm cheap and I did not want to pay 20 bucks for a game that I already paid for.

I found, like Thalaria, no spaces at the official site to download only the original game. I could have taken the chance and bought the upgrade hoping the original would be included with it, but the retail version at Wallyworld says that this is not a full game and you must buy the original as well. And, once again, I am cheap.

I was really looking for a site like Texel sent me, but it would have been many hours of downloading before I could play. Too many hours to play that night.

I really appreciate you guys trying to help. I'm sorta a noob here and I wasn't sure what sort of response I would get.

I am, however, rather disapointed in the official support process. For a game that supposedly has 7 million players going 24/7 to get the "we're open nine to five five days a week" seems inadequate. I have only sent in 2 tickets, and both were late at night on a weekend. An answer on the next Tuesday didn't help much.
