64-bit Client

Postby Grimblast » Wed Nov 04, 2015 11:13 am

So rumor has it on reddit that the 64-bit client released today may fix my strange in game crashes during events. Found this little tip to save on download time.
Guild Wars 2 Characters
Turalia Gearspark - Asuran Engineer ----------- Turus Gearspark - Asuran Guardian
Thelena Turusian - Norn Warrior ---------------- Jake Turusian - Human Thief
Dililah Turusian - Norn Necromancer ------------ Rahl Braincrusher - Char Mesmer
Star Earthbreaker - Sylvari Elementalist -------- Rylo Preystalker - Char Ranger

Also, pro-tip: You can do the same thing with reinstallation to save downloading. That's what I did: Reinstall GW, cancel install, drop old .dat in, done.

Still surprised it took this long since 32-bit processes are limited to 2GiB address space (pointer size restrictions, among other things), with a possible increase to 4GiB if the process is large address aware. The easiest solution is to just migrate to a 64-bit build.

Although, Firefox is still 32-bit and will probably remain that way until 43+. We're eventually going to get rid of 32-bit legacy rubbish.

Now let's push for IPv6!

Dulfy has a direct link to the 64-bit client binary here.
