The latest version of the Minecraft client is 1.2.4. Remember, Bukkit updates aren't pushed out immediately after a release, so please don't update your clients if you still wish to connect to the Minecraft server.

If you have updated, you'll need to copy a Minecraft 1.2.3 minecraft.jar into your bin directory or use something like MC Nostalgia to revert to an earlier version.

Be aware that there are reports regarding an extremely buggy lighting engine in 1.2.4 in addition to crashes on some hardware. Depending on if/when 1.2.5 or 1.3 are released, we might hold off on updating until then since the Bukkit developers have been absorbed by Mojang. If you're attempting to play on the server but cannot, you'll need to revert to v1.2.3.

Just a note to those of you playing on the MC server.

There's a Bukkit beta build out for MC 1.2.3, and I'll likely be testing it this evening to verify that it'll work with some of our more critical plugins. If it does, I'll be updating the server later tonight.

Be aware that creature AI has markedly improved in this version. Avoidance methods you've used before are unlikely to work.

Just means I have to get more creative is all. I'll probably get busy sometime this week building a proper wall around my farm instead of fencing for starters. Get some iron doors with switches going for the main gate maybe.

It will kill the view for sure but better safe than sorry!

Apparently they will actively try to avoid being burned by sunlight and possible lava/fire.

The Minecraft server has been updated to 1.2.3. It's currently using a beta build of Bukkit and some plugins (WorldEdit, WorldGuard), so it's likely that a bug or two might surface.

Please report bugs in a new thread.

I'm still not sure if we'll be updating it to v1.2.4. There's a few pretty nasty client-side bugs. Depending on what Josh thinks, we might just wind up holding off since there's no (easy to find) beta builds for Bukkit, and I'm not sure I really want to play SMP on a client that might be prone to crashing/lighting glitches...

I say hold off. For those that updated, they will either have to revert or tough it out until there is some stability in the latest build.
